A crested gecko ships best when its enclosure is ready, an adult is available to receive it, and you open the box promptly and carefully. We ship by FedEx Priority Overnight, usually Monday through Wednesday for delivery Tuesday through Thursday, weather permitting. We do not ship to Alaska or Hawaii. Preparation on your end makes the difference.
Before delivery day:
- Set up the enclosure and confirm the temperature holds at 72 to 78°F for at least a day
- Use paper towel substrate, a few hides, foliage and a shallow water dish
- Check the forecast for your delivery address. As a guideline, home delivery works for temperatures from 40 to 85°F. These are guidelines, not guarantees, and we may postpone a shipment for weather or other risks
- We strongly recommend holding the package at a FedEx Ship Center. The guideline range there is wider, 35 to 90°F, and you must collect the package the same day it arrives
- Read our Terms & Shipping page before ordering, especially the Live Arrival Guarantee and the Five-Day Health Guarantee
On delivery day:
- An authorized adult must be present for the first delivery attempt, and missing this can void the Live Arrival Guarantee
- Bring the box indoors right away and keep it out of heat, cold and direct sun
- Open it in a quiet room, and record a video of the unboxing, which helps if there is any issue
- Remove the gecko gently from its container, because it may jump
- Place it in the prepared enclosure and leave it alone
After arrival:
- Mist lightly and make sure water is available
- Offer food the next evening, though some geckos skip a few meals after shipping
- Limit handling for the first two weeks unless necessary
- Weigh the gecko when it arrives and weekly during the first month
If something is wrong:
- If a gecko arrives deceased, contact us within two hours of delivery or pickup. Send clear photos or video, and keep the gecko and all packaging until we tell you what to do
- Our Five-Day Health Guarantee runs from delivery or pickup. Report any significant health concern within 24 hours of discovering it, with photos or video, a description, and your enclosure temperature and humidity
- See a vet without delay if your gecko needs care, and never delay emergency care
- Tail loss is not covered by our guarantees
